Make Them Rounded

Make Them Rounded

When writing a creative piece containing characters it can be difficult to bring them into fruition. There can be a lot of things that go into making a round character, their development and how they can grow on the reader.

Having a rounded character can bring a lot of depth and emotion to your writing that the reader can feel while reading. Having a rounded character can make it easier for the reader to attach themselves to that character, because they can see themselves in that character based on the decisions and emotions they have. Now, every character doesn't need to be a rounded character, but having more rounded than flat characters can help your story. The protagonist and antagonist should always be rounded but not limited to only those characters. Sometimes side characters can hold a lot of power on a story and its plot. Leaving side characters as flat character only leaves limited choices for the reader to attach themselves to.

Flat characters shouldn't be completely removed from a story though, they still hold important values. They can used as pawn like in chess to create situation or scenarios for the rounded characters to react in. Flat characters are a must in story telling but having too many can hold the depth of your story back.

The more characters written as rounded allow more opportunities for readers to attach themselves too. Everyone loves a good character development and side characters shouldn't be restricted to not developing. They can become pivotal pieces to a telling a story and as you write can see them becoming main characters.
