It's Not Going to Finish Itself

As you sit there, scrolling through social media, you know that work needs to be done. You still sit there scrolling and well aware that if you just started it right now, you'd be done and the worry is gone.. but you still have a couple days, so ehh it can wait.

This is probably a conversation you've had with yourself more times than you can think of and you aren't the only one. Procrastination is like a virus that can plague anyone, anywhere, and at anytime. Some struggle with it more than others but at one point n your life you will hit a wall of depleted motivation, leaving you wanting to do anything but what needs to be done. It can bring unwanted anxiety and stress all because you hit a point where you just need a minute, and sometimes it's okay to have those needed mental health days. Sadly, procrastination can become a habit if not taken serious and lead you to digging a hole you need an all night to get out off.

If you find yourself struggling with procrastination, it doesn't have to become a habit for you. There are helpful tips and tricks you can do to help create better habits and overall creating less stress and anxiety for yourself.

First, becoming more organized can help prioritize the work that you need to get done first to what can actually wait. Writing down to-do list can help be a reminder for you to get things done. Writing things out can be an effective way of prioritizing what needs done, but you still have to act on them. So, attack the task right away can help you keep that motivation going. Once you wait, you are going back to procrastination. Giving yourself a reward can also help motivate you to get things done. Tell yourself if you get all your work done before a set day, you can go out and have a drink with friends. Another effective trick is having someone hold you accountable. Friends or peer's can be a great help in keeping you on task, because you won't want to let them down. That feeling can help push you and of you have good peers, they'll push you to be better.
